The Mostly Metal Challenge Kits are nearly gone! Thanks to everyone who has purchased one. If you've been thinking of participating, don't wait too long. Here are the answers to a few questions I've received:
Q: Will you be hosting another challenge?
A: Yes. I'd like to host 4 challenges a year, so the next one will be sometime in the fall. (Probably earlier rather than later, since I know fall is a busy design season for people.)
Q: Will the next challenge be the same as this one?
A: Nope! Each challenge will have a different focus with different materials.
Q: Which of the three challenge kits is the most popular?
A: They've sold nearly equal numbers. I find it fascinating that no one type of metal (antique brass, raw brass, or gunmetal) is the clear favorite. Hooray for metal!
Q: Who's participating?
A: I'm not going to name names (you'll have to wait for the August blog hop), but I will say that we have international participation and different states in the U.S. (I think the East Coast is winning). We also have a mix of very experienced designers whose names you probably know and brand new ones who are participating in their very first challenge.
Q: What kind of jewelry do they make?
A: Judging from their blogs, it looks like everything is covered: metalwork, beadweaving, bead embroidery, wirework, stringing, mixed media . . . It's going to be amazing to see what they all do with their kits!
Q: How much does the filigree butterfly cost?
A: Okay, no one's really asked that, but I thought I'd tell you anyway. I've looked around the web and found prices ranging from $1.95 to $4.50. (The entire Filigree Fun kit including the butterfly costs $5.50.)
Q: Do I have to use everything in the kit?
A: No, you don't. Use what you like and add your own favorite materials from your stash.
Q: What if I don't have a blog? Can I still participate?
A: Yes! You'll need to send me a photo of your finished design and I will post it on my blog for the blog hop in August.
Q: Do you ever sleep?
A: Sometimes.
