I normally post contests and challenges every quarter (see my previous contest list for July-September 2011). But there are some terrific contests and challenges that have been announced since that post, so I'm doing an early update. I don't want you to miss out!
I'll be hosting a blog hop next week for the Mostly Metal Challenge, which was my summer challenge. Stay tuned for my fall challenge, which I'll post about on September 2.
As always, please check the official websites for rules and deadlines. Sometimes things change!
On Second Thought (Happy Mango Beads)
Deadline: August 14, 2011
First Ever Blog Challenge (Fusion Beads)
Deadline: August 15, 2011
Note: Since you need to order items from Fusion Beads to participate, you probably won't have time to enter. I'm including it so you'll know to keep an eye on their website for any future challenges.
Flex Your Creativity (SoftFlex)
Deadline: September 1, 2011
Swarovski Elements (Fire Mountain Gems)
Deadline: September 19, 2011
Fairy Tales Reader Challenge (Stringing magazine)
Deadline: October 5, 2011
Mavens Meld (Bead Mavens)
Deadline: October 15, 2011
Monthly Challenges
These sites offer challenges every month.
Andrew offers a monthly challenge with a kit from his shop. Kits sell out quickly, so you'll want to watch his blog for the next challenge.
These challenges are usually inspired by a great work of art and offer prizes of handmade beads and findings for randomly drawn winners.
There's both a winner voted by readers and also by the staff with prizes of Vintaj materials.
Other Challenges
This is a huge challenge run by Lori Anderson. It typically attracts 200-300 beads from around the world. It's run twice a year, but doesn't have regular dates. Watch her blog for the announcement about her next challenge.
Creating Glass Beads Winner
The winner of the Creating Glass Beads book is Erin Strother, whose comment number (2) was picked at random by random.org. Congratulations! Thanks to everyone who entered. If you're looking for places to buy great beads, look at the comments on the original post for suggestions.
