When I decided to start a blog, I knew I didn't want to write about writing (at least most of the time), so I was fascinated by two recent posts by two writing friends. YA author Corrine Jackson wrote OK to Blog about Writing?, while Dawn Rae Miller wrote Why You Shouldn't be Writing About Writing. It comes down to a basic question: Why are you blogging? Depending upon your audience, writing about writing may be a wonderful or not-so-wonderful idea.
As a completely unscientific experiment, I checked out the blogs by members of Northern Colorado Writers and instructors/presenters (authors, agents, editors) at workshops and/or the annual conference. There's definitely a healthy mix of writing and non-writing topics. I categorized the blogs (it's a librarian thing). Some of the them cover multiple topics, but I've only listed each blog in a single category. No matter what you're interested in, I'm sure you'll find a couple of new blogs to read:
