an attachment, but doesn't actually attach the file, and then suddenly there's a flurry of email filling up your inbox. ("No attachment." "Oh, sorry. Here it is." "Still no attachment . . .") Did you know that there's a program for
Gmail (and one for Outlook) that actually looks for the words "attach" or "attachment" in the email and
then makes sure that you actually have a file attached before you
hit the "send" button?
That's just one of the tips I picked up from Upgrade Your Life
by Gina Trapani. Gina started the very popular Lifehacker blog in 2005 and her book includes her top tips. These are small things—many are explained on less than one page—that can make you less stressed and more productive. In my opinion, this is a much more useful book than the kind that claims to teach you
how to make millions of dollars. (I just read one that mentioned
making $100 million . . . by starting with $10 million. Uh, yeah, I'll
get right on that!)
Don't be scared away by the large size of this book. This is not a book to be read cover-to-cover. Instead, read over the detailed table of contents and pick the areas you want to improve such as organizing your digital photos or controlling your email. I bet you'll find at least one tip that makes your life just a little bit easier.
FTC Note: I received no payment, no free book, and no other incentives of any kind for my beautifully worded prose above.
