I'm not a big fan of food photos on blogs. Probably because when I'm reading blogs I'm nowhere near any good food (read: vending machines, uninspired leftovers) and it just makes me grouchy. Kind of like watching the Food channel when I'm on the treadmill. I feel cheated watching Rachel Ray whip her way through a 30-minute meal when at the end of 30-minutes I am left with sweaty workout clothes instead of a huge Italian meal.
So I'll totally understand if you want to skip this post.
I recently tried a new recipe: Raspberry-Filled Cinnamon Muffins. The only change I made was to use "Triple Berry" preserves (blackberry, raspberry, strawberry) instead of raspberry. This is the perfect choice for the indecisive breakfast eater in your life. I liked having the preserves inside the muffin because that just cut out one more step at the breakfast table and I'm all for lazy eating.
Each muffin was supposed to have a tablespoon of batter at the bottom of each cup, but I just guessed and apparently was a little too generous because I didn't have enough batter left to cover the tops and sides sufficiently. The reddish color of the preserves, not to mention the sticky consistency, made me think of blood. To be honest, looking at the tray of fresh muffins I pulled from the oven was like looking at a gruesome crime scene. A perfectly delicious crime scene.
P.S. No, I don't think I've been reading too many mysteries lately. Why do you ask?
