At the Denver International Airport (Terminal A, just after security), I discovered thousands of origami birds lining the walkway. |
I like the juxtaposition of the birds and the large planes outside the windows. |
When I got closer to the birds, I noticed that they had writing on them. |
Then I saw the sign about the exhibit. The artist Brianna Martray wrote a novel. It took her eight years. When a New York City agent requested it, she decided it wasn't good enough to submit. So she started making origami cranes out the pages. In 2010, both her computer and back-up hard drive were stolen. Now the only existing copy of her book are in these folded cranes.
The "Shadow Happy" exhibits runs through December 2011. |
