Look what I found at a flea market over the weekend!
If you sew or quilt, you might recognize this storage item. It's a holder for spools of thread. (I bought it from a quilter.)
In the photo, the stand is leaning against the wall, but it does have
two back legs that fold out so it can stand upright on its own. However, it's fairly light and could get tipped over easily. I'm leaning towards using it in my studio, rather than in public (unless I found a way to secure it).
Since I can count the number of spools of sewing thread I own on one hand, I'm thinking I might use it for something else. Of course, I'm not sure yet what that "something else" may be!
Here are the things I'm considering:
• spools of gauged wire, ribbon, Nymo, beading wire, or fishing line (for the larger spools, I'd have to skip every other peg)
• strands of beads (I like the idea of creating a wall of color)
• finished jewelry (it may not make a good display for the public, but it could be useful for storing inventory)
• finger puppets (okay, not really, but wouldn't that be cute to have a hundred little animal faces looking at your every move?)
What are your ideas?
