It's time to share the love (and a chance at an Amazon gift card)!
Over the last few months, I've been creating simple embossed cards. As much as I love them in their plain form, I think it would be fun to embellish or color them with pencils, paint, crayons, beads, papers, photos, fabric, scissors, feathers, inks—you name it.
I also thought it'd be fun to host an easy, non-beading challenge. Sometimes when I'm blocked with one type of craft or technique, I find it helpful to completely switch directions.
There is no right or wrong way to do this challenge. You can alter the entire card or just one tiny section. You can use any medium you like. The idea is to have FUN and do something you might not normally try!
Challenge Rules
Here's how this Valentine's Challenge will work:
1. This is open to both U.S. and international readers.
Please leave me a comment on this blog post lettering me know which design you'd like. Make sure I have a way to reach you. I'll email you and request your mailing address. Then I'll mail you the card for FREE. That's right! As my New Year's gift to you, this challenge is FREE.
Tip: If you fill out the email box in
the comments section, that will only be seen by me and not the public.
2. In exchange, please send me a photo of your altered card no later than February 10, 2012. You can use any technique you want to alter the whole card or just a section.
I'm happy to include links to your blog, Etsy shop, or website, along with the photo of your card. I'll post the photos and links here on Valentine's Day.
3. This challenge is limited to the first 25 readers who respond AND who can be reached.
4. The altered card is yours to keep or give away.
5. You're welcome to blog about this challenge at any time if you wish. There is no group "blog hop" for this challenge.
Bonus Giveaway: Everyone who submits an image of their altered card will be entered into a random drawing for a $25 Amazon Gift Card. Woo-hoo! Let me emphasize "random drawing": everyone has an equal chance at winning.
Card Options
• Three designs: hearts and flowers (an all-over pattern), leaf (two branches with leaves on either side of the card, lots of blank space in the middle), and alphabet (an all-over pattern of random letters). These are the only three options for this challenge. Let me know which one you'd like.
• You will receive ONE card from the design choices listed. (Your choice.)
• Card size: 4" x 5.5" (10.1 cm x 13.9 cm). This is a small card.
• Color: All cards are cream/ivory cardstock.
• Envelopes: You'll receive a matching envelope. It's up to you whether you want to alter that, too.
• You can see more detailed photos of these cards in my Etsy shop.
Happy New Year!
P.S. I need to approve the blog comments—it's not automatic—so if you don't see yours listed right away, don't panic. I'm probably just getting a second cup of tea. Or maybe picking 1,000 beige size 15 seed beads out of beige carpet. (Did I schedule that eye appointment yet?) I'll post the comments as quickly as I can.
Update January 8, 2011: The 25 slots have been filled and no more free cards are available. Thanks, everyone!
