When I came across this quote this week, I was reminded of those high school career tests. Mine predicted a fine career as a sanitation worker. That strikes me as especially funny now given the current piles of beading debris in the living room and the stacks of paper and books in my office.
Some 5-year-old kids know that they want to be a doctor or lawyer when they grow up. I was never one of those kids. Looking back, I can see that a girl who played "art class" as a child, who painted dozens of figurines in middle school (see photo), and drew elaborate designs on her Keds in high school could very well grow up to work for craft books, magazines, and manufacturers. It seems like the place I'm meant to be. For now, anyway.
