This week I created a quick blue-and-orange bracelet in honor of the Denver Broncos playing in the Superbowl this Sunday. The orange beads are a dyed gemstone, while the dark blue are ceramic. The bracelet is strung on 1mm leather cord and knotted. Brown leather makes me think of football. The little white crackle glass bead is a nod to the cold weather; I keep hearing that this may be the coldest Superbowl on record. You can find the full tutorial for Orange and Blue Forever as well as a very pretty green bracelet for that "other" team at the Halcraft blog. | |
Even if you're not into sports, I wanted to highlight these matte
white crackle glass beads from the Bead Gallery section at Michaels. I
hadn't seen them before and they'd make great winter-themed jewelry. They look just like frozen bits of ice and
snow. They're smooth, not faceted. I found them both in a 10mm round size and the small
nugget shape that I used in the orange and blue bracelet. I did break a
couple when I got a little too aggressive with my pliers, so do treat
them carefully, as you would any breakable bead. Stay warm! |
