Occasionally I like to share some of my favorite things (see my previous list). Here are my recent finds:
- Buffer
I like to stay active on Twitter, but my schedule can be a little crazy. I end up finding things to share early in the morning or late at night when few people are reading. Buffer is an app for Twitter (or Facebook) that lets you schedule your tweets or posts. You just put in the tweets you want to make and it schedules them at the most popular times. (You can also decide the times you'd like, if you want to control the schedule.) There's even a little icon on your web browser to click and add things to your feed. The free version has a limited number of tweets stored in the queue, but it's fine for my needs. I'm gaining more followers already since the more you tweet, the more followers you have. - The Art of Forgotten Things
I bought The Art of Forgotten Things: Creating Jewelry from Objects with A Past at Interweave's summer sale and am just now looking through it more closely. It's so unusual to see beadweaving in mixed media jewelry. Most of the beadweaving elements are in small touches: bezeled pendants, beaded edgings, tubes. There's an Old World vintage feel to many of the projects with their liberal use of frayed ribbon, lace, vintage keys, and filigree. The author Melanie Doerman, sadly, passed away, but her book remains a treasure. - Oops! Correction Tape
I got my first one of these little plastic blue dispensers from an editor I know. It's come in handy as I've been sending postcards of my book. (It's so hard to do anything handwritten now, but I'm making an effort!) You just roll the white tape over where you've made a mistake and write over it. I remember the old days of gloppy Wite-Out and this is a million times better. - Tazo Chai Tea
One of my favorites, especially at the start of fall. (I already had to pull out a light sweater one morning last week!) I like chai that's more spicy than sweet, so this one fits the bill nicely with its touch of black pepper. - Jimmy Choo Shoe or Gladiator Quiz
The August 29th episode of the podcast Pop Culture Happy Hour included this hilarious quiz. I once bought a pair of shoes named "book lover", so I am a sucker for good shoe names. The quiz is surprisingly difficult. Who knew gladiator names and shoe names were so similar?
