Beads & Inspiration
This month's challenge fell outside my normal design comfort zone with lots of pink and lace. I chose two of the same strands as Erin Prais-Hintz (large pink ceramic rondelles and rose flowered rounds) and added a third of my own (pink Czech faceted glass rounds). I love these beads with their subtle specks of gold on the pale rosy pink. I could easily see pairing them with gold ear wires to make some fun hoop earrings for spring.
The Necklace
The lace photos Erin shared made me think of round doilies with lots of airy space in between the thin threads. To capture that feeling, I designed a necklace with circle links. I wired wrapped and strung the three types of beads using several sizes of jump rings and circle links. I left some of the rings empty to give the necklace a lighter feel both visually and physically. I hate wearing heavy necklaces!
I added a silver rolo chain necklace as an easy second strand. This sterling silver-plated chain has a nice heft to it that makes it feel really luxurious. The final result is a long, romantic necklace that would make a pretty accent for an ivory cashmere sweater.
