This is the time of year when it's customary to show your appreciation for your hardworking employees.
This year I was inspired when dug down deep to the bottom of one of my Christmas decoration boxes and discovered that I had a lot of Christmas lights. I'm talking enough to turn my neighborhood street into a working landing strip for nearby aircraft.
Since converting your quiet neighborhood street into a working airport is probably against the homeowners association policies*, I decided to reward my hard-working mannequin instead. She does such a wonderful job holding up my booth sign at craft shows. She takes minimal coffee breaks and sick days and never complains about the long hours we work.
Looking at those twinkly lights, I knew my girl would enjoy an electric light dress to wear to all those upcoming holiday parties. I started at the bottom of her skirt and created a pleasing tangle of three or four strands of lights, making sure that those helpful warning labels about improper holiday light use were tastefully tucked into the back of the dress. A couple of the strands even blink for those nights on the town when she's feeling especially sassy.
It may take me all of January to remove her holiday finery, but it was so totally worth it. Merry Christmas!
* If it's not against them now, it will be after the board reads this post. It's not my fault that the policies are now 682 pages long, is it? Remember the good ol' days when they were just worried about whether or not you mowed your lawn? |
