I may not own any chevron-patterned throw pillows, but my house is now exactly on trend. Best of all, no effort was required. I didn't need to drive to the mall or spend any extra money.
How did I do it? Take a close look at this photo from the latest Pottery Barn catalog. Notice anything?

What about this?
Yes, those are strands of beads on the table, flowing from platters and adorning vases. A little splash of color and texture. So daring! So fresh!
Well, maybe it's daring and fresh to other people. I hate to be the one to break it to Pottery Barn, but as a jewelry designer, this beads-on-every-surface look is ho-hum ordinary. I've been doing it for years.
Try It
It's easy to achieve this designer look yourself. For those of you who don't have any extra strands of beads in your house . . . Who are you? Why are you reading this blog? . . . you can find a small sample of wood, glass, and resin beads for sale at Pottery Barn. Just look for "bead vase filler." Or you can ask your friend who's into beading. She'd probably be happy to part with a strand or two . . . after she stops laughing.
