The Meowsic Critic
When I was in high school, the family cat liked to sit next to me while I played the piano. Sounds sweet, doesn't? Except that this cat liked to swat me with his paw any time I played a song that he didn't like, such as "Linus and Lucy," the theme song from Peanuts. My piano teacher couldn't figure out why sometimes I could play difficult songs, but not easier ones. In my view, it was pretty simple: I practiced whatever the cat would let me practice in peace.
I wrote about this experience for What I Learned from the Cat, now available in stores. To celebrate, I'm giving away a copy of the book.
