It's been another busy week! Here's what I've been working on recently:
Pretty Palettes May Challenge
I created this May Garden Bracelet for the Pretty Palettes Challenge hosted at Halcraft USA. I've combined oranges and reds before, as well as yellows and oranges, but I've never thrown pink into the mix. This was definitely a challenge for me and one I ended up loving!
The beads pictured at right were ones chosen by Erin Prais-Hintz for her challenge piece. You can see that I used the same orange glass tabs, but I chose other beads for the rest of the colors.
You can find photos of other projects using the same color palette on the Halcraft USA blog.
Plus, as I've mentioned before, if you have a blog and want to play along, please let Erin know. You can find her contact info at the Halcraft site.
Recycling & The Beading Studio
For the Inside Beadwork Magazine blog, I shared some of the recycled items I use in my beading studio. For example, I love using those round Laughing Cow cheese boxes to hold in-progress projects.
Knotting with Hemp Cord
I also wrote a new post this week for Halcraft USA about knotting with hemp cord. That type of cord has an earthy feel to it that is just right for some of the bohemian-style jewelry I've been seeing lately. I've been doing a lot of experimenting and share four ideas for knotting with beads.
Jewelry Stringing Summer
My Cyclin' Round necklace made with parts from the hardware store is in the Jewelry Stringing Summer 2014 issue. I also wrote the Tell & Sell interview on using email newsletters for your jewelry business on the last page. Taya of Tasi Designs shared some great advice. The submission deadline for the winter issue is quickly approaching.
Wedding Jewelry
The B'Sue Boutique challenge for June is wedding jewelry. You can win a $25 gift certificate. I'm working on a necklace that includes pearls and hearts. Those two elements show up in a lot of my work, wedding-themed or not. I hope to have it finished in another week or so. Since I'm on the design team, I can't win, so I encourage you to enter!
