Romantic Jewelry Inspiration
Most of the jewelry I'm creating for sale now I would classify as modern and simple: think stamped pendants on chain, cuff bracelets, dangle earrings with a single charm.
So it might surprise you that I've been also creating some jewelry that's a bit more nostalgic with vintage-inspired, elegant elements such as filigree components in the shape of hearts, flowers, and keys; pearls, soft colors, and ribbon. With Valentine's Day about one month away, I thought I'd share a few of these romantic jewelry designs in case you want to make your own versions. My inspiration behind them was the B'Sue by 1928 line of pewter pendants, links, drops and charms. The jewelry components are:
- U.S. made
- Lead- and nickel-free
- Available in four finishes: gingerbread, old silver, raw (unplated), and rusted iron
- Made from unique vintage molds by the popular 1928 Jewelry company
- Only available through B'Sue Boutiques
My Necklace and Earring Designs
My designs were recently published in two popular jewelry making magazines, Jewelry Affaire and Beadwork.
Jewelry Affaire Winter 2018
My two designs in the Winter 2018 issue of Jewelry Affaire may be found in the "In the Jewelry Box" section near the back of the magazine. This section gives short descriptions of the jewelry rather than step-by-step instructions.
The Pearl Joy earrings feature long Victorian-style pewter earring drops that I've embellished with pearls. The Heart at Home necklace includes two filigree heart pendants that I've connected to make a reversible pendant.
Beadwork February/March 2018
I had two necklace designs in the February/March 2018 issue of Beadwork.
The Unlocked Treasure necklace features a fancy key pendant strung with pearls and copper-plated chain, while the earrings feature flower connectors. The magazine includes full step-by-step instructions.
Pink Lemonade features a pewter bow and a teardrop earring with an oval bezel that I've embellished with dangles. Instead of filling the pendant with a stone or cameo, I attached a small silver-plated flower. The magazine includes full step-by-step instructions.
Long live romantic jewelry!
