I thought it'd be fun to occasionally share some of my favorite things. Here are five of my recent finds:
1. Mini Peach Pies
The July/August 2014 issue of Food Network Magazine showed how you can mini peach pies. You press refrigerated pie dough into a muffin pan, insert a half of a peach, add a little sugar and butter, layer a piece of dough on top and bake. How brilliant is this? I love the idea of individual desserts and the recipe is super easy. It's just about peach season here in Colorado. It looks like someone else has already shared the recipe online.
2. Inkwell and Brew
While compiling a Pinterest board of Places to Write in Northern Colorado, I found this shop named Inkwell and Brew in Estes Park, Colorado that sells stationery, books, and beautiful writing implements. And they also sell coffee. And they're outside of a beautiful national forest. Forget about visiting. I want to move in!
3. The Scarf Camera Strap Project
This is so easy and pretty. Of course, I don't own a fancy camera that needs a full strap, but that didn't stop me from admiring this project and several other variations online. If I ever get that fancy camera, I am definitely doing this!
4. Unsplash
I take all my own images for my blog, but not everyone can do that. Where can you get beautiful, copyright free images that you can use for whatever you like? Unsplash promises "10 new images every 10 days." The photos are quite amazing and sure to inspire some thoughtful writing or designing or inventing! I found out about this resource through an old podcast from While She Naps. I'd highly recommend the podcast even if you don't sew. I've learned about so many great resources from these podcasts.
5. Cornerless Cubes
I go through phases in beading where I get fixated on a type of bead and buy a lot of it. My favorite bead lately has been metal cornerless cubes. It's not a new bead, but my obsession with it is new. The angles of the bead help your jewelry catch the light, but they aren't super shiny like many spacers. I bought them at Baubles & Beads (they call them hex beads), but they sell them in several places, including St. Katherine's on Etsy. They're the perfect spacer to go with bohemian-inspired designs and come in silver, copper, and brass versions.
