Surface Pattern

Surface pattern is the art that decorates everyday objects -- think pillowcases, curtains, notebooks, backpacks, water bottles! If you look around your house, you might be surprised at how many items you own have some kind of pattern or illustration on them. I love to draw and am having so much fun experimenting with traditional art techniques like watercolor and new ones like Procreate and Illustrator. You can see more of my surface pattern design collections on Spoonflower, a print-on-demand fabric and home decor company. I'm always interested in licensing partnerships, so if you think I'd be a good fit for your business, feel free to get in touch!

Spring Garden

This spring collection started with an illustration of a garden complete with flowers of all sizes, a picket fence, butterflies, and watering can. View the full collection.

Pretzel Peace

Baking is definitely a form a meditation for me! This design combines a lot of my favorite ingredients: watercolor, textures, the color teal, polka dots, and hot pretzels fresh from the oven. View the full collection.

Summer Tennis Tournament

No one who knows me would ever describe me as "sporty", but I do love drawing clothes and accessories for all sorts of occasions, even athletic ones! View the full collection.

Passementerie Purses

I love looking at handbags, totes, and purses, although I admit I don't own too many of them! This set of patterns combines some of my favorite things like embellishments (tassels, bows, ribbons, buttons) with a delicious pink and brown color palette. Who are those people who have just one sensible black bag that goes with everything? View the full collection.

To the Letter

I learned calligraphy as a young teen and I love all the tools it requires: fountain pens, thick paper, bottles of ink. I am super messy, hence all those ink blots you see in the background. If I'm doing some hand lettering, everyone in the world will know with just a glance at my hands, my jeans, and probably my forehead as I've used my inky fingers to move a stray strand of hair out of the way. Watermelon Summer

It isn't really summer until the first watermelon finds its way into my grocery cart or market tote bag. Even I will admit that all those seeds--even in the "seedless" variety--are irritating, at least when you're eating a slice. Drawing them is actually kind of fun! View the full collection.

Mostly Chocolate Donuts

Inspired by childhood memories of living within biking distance of a donut shop, mostly chocolate donuts features brightly-colored donuts, sugary sprinkles and nonpareils, and squiggles of icing. View the full collection.

Teal Atoms

Since I make and sell science-related jewelry, I'm always thinking of new ways to draw and use scientific symbols. These teal atoms are paired with simple (nucleus) dots and (sine) waves. View the full collection.

The Key to Cross Stitch

This pattern set combines two things I like: cross-stitch and antique keys. I did small cross-stitch patterns from childhood through my early adult years. This collection comes in several colorways, including this beachy coral, sand beige, and teal. View the full collection.

Irish Lace Shamrocks

This collection combines some of my favorite things: the color green, the art of lace making, and St. Patricks' Day! View the full collection.
