The holiday season is extra busy for those of us who make handmade items. We not only make gifts for family and friends, but sometimes we make them for strangers and sell them at shows. With all the craziness and stress during November and December (or longer for the organized types), it's hard to remember why we do it.
A few weeks ago I pulled out a box of Christmas decorations. I was opening tins and boxes, looking for specific ornaments, when I came across this treasure wrapped carefully in tissue paper. How did something fragile like this survive the chaos of Christmas for
decades?
I have no memory of making this pinecone ornament with silver glitter and red and gold beads, but I could easily picture myself at 3 or 5, studiously gluing clumps of glitter and beads to my pinecone—and probably my hair, my ears, and my dress. It made me smile to see it. And that smile reminded me why we do this every year.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog this year. Merry Christmas!
