I seem to have caught a minor case of the Blogging Blues. Maybe it's all the recent snow and cold and forced hibernation, but my blog has been making me feel positively itchy these last few weeks. I want to make some changes, but I'm not sure what changes to make. All I know is that I'm feeling disconnected and not quite sure how to get that old spark back. What can I do to shake things up for me—and for you?
Here's one thing I'm going to try: I found (via mystery author Patricia Stoltey) a challenge for April: write 26 blog posts (no Sundays) using the letters A to Z. So April 1st could be a post on "a is for agate" or "a is for amphibian-themed jewelry" or whatever I'm inspired to write. I'm quite excited about this idea and already wrote a list of possible A-Z topics (yes, even "X"), just in case I get stuck on any of the letters.
I'm also thinking about hosting a swap for beaders and/or crafters later this month or in March. I admire the Bead Soup Party that jewelry designer Lori Anderson has been hosting and I'm thinking of doing something similar, but on a smaller scale and with a different focus. I like the idea of pairing up folks who have never met and meeting some new bloggers. I'm a little anxious about it—what if I throw a party and nobody comes? But that's a risk I'm willing to take.
I'd like to do some experiments with photography and design, too. I was intrigued by the recent post Heather Powers wrote on creating rounded photo corners. I'm sure there are lots of photography tricks and design tips that I could use to beautify my blog and make it a warmer place to hang out.
