Do you like cupcakes? Is that a rhetorical question?
I am very fond of cupcakes, as you might have noticed from my previous post about using cupcakes as photo props.
Awhile ago, I was contacted by Chef Annette of The Goodie Girls, which is a fabulous cupcake shop in southern California. We're talking winners on the TV show Cupcake Wars and a shop that counts Jay Leno, Disney, and Dancing with the Stars among their clients. The shop is celebrating their one year anniversary and asked me if I'd like to be a sponsor.
[Insert sound of mind being blown.]
When I came to, I agreed to do it. It was already one of my busiest weeks ever (upcoming big craft show + making more than 100 items for a gallery + looming book editing project + 2 jewelry instruction deadlines + a busy Etsy shop = craziness), but I really wanted to do it. And when I really want something, I'll figure out how to make it work, even if it means dialing down the sleep and dialing up the coffee.
For this giveaway, I created 50 gift bags with two handmade cards and a couple of gift tags. These bags will be given out to the first 50 customers. I also made two larger card sets for their charity. I am especially proud of the cupcake cards pictured here. This is a completely new, original design that I drew: a single candle to symbolize that first year and a star for their Hollywood friends.
If you're in Glendale, California on November 10, you might want to join their celebration. (I've heard that there might be a pink carpet to walk!) If not, why not make some cupcakes at home? There are some amazing sounding recipes on their blog. This recipe for Pumpkin Pancake Cupcakes with Maple Syrup Frosting grabbed my attention. Doesn't that sound like a perfect cupcake for fall? I'm totally going to make those as soon as my schedule clears up ... in January!
