Today (June 21, 2022) is the first day of summer!
Summer of Flower 2022 Challenge
This summer I'm challenging myself to make one flower a week.
What does that mean?
It could mean making a pair of daisy earrings, a pencil drawing of a bouquet, a flowered fabric pattern, a photo of a flower, or even some fondant roses on a cupcake!
Simply put: use any techniques, any materials, any length of time, and any types of flower of any size to make one flower-themed item a week. More than one is fine, of course, if a specific project starts to blossom.
I've often found challenges to be a great way to jump start my creativity and make sure that I'm making new art on a regular basis. Plus, I like the idea of a seasonal challenge. It's longer than your normal 30-day challenge, but shorter than a year-long one. It's enough time to make a large project or lots of little ones.
However, sometimes I find challenges too restrictive, so I'm keeping this one fairly loose. Hopefully, I'll be sharing some of my flower projects throughout the summer. I'm also giving myself permission to not share. We live in a very hyper-sharing world, but I know that I'll be more creatively adventurous if don't have to tell anyone about my spectacular failures along the way.
I hope this Summer Flower Challenge idea might inspire some of you who are looking at a way to celebrate this time of year. Feel free to shape this challenge however it fits best for you.
The last day of summer is September 22, 2022. Let's get started!
